Young British Heavyweight Prospect Itauma Receives Mentorship from Champion Joshua
Moses Itauma, the promising 19-year-old British heavyweight prospect, has found himself under the tutelage of renowned trainer Ben Davison, who has worked with top fighters like Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. This connection has led to Itauma receiving valuable mentorship from former heavyweight world champion Joshua.
Itauma recently made his debut under Davison’s guidance, ruthlessly stopping Germany’s Ilja Mezencev in the second round on the undercard of the Tyson Fury-Oleksandr Usyk fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Davison’s expertise in preparing fighters for high-profile bouts has been a significant asset for the young heavyweight.
Mentorship from Anthony Joshua
In addition to training under Davison, Itauma has also sought the advice and experience of Joshua, who is widely regarded as the third-best heavyweight in the world. Joshua, a former amateur and professional world champion, has taken the time to mentor Itauma, discussing various aspects of life, money, and the sport.
“Being in camp with Joshua; being in with the likes of Pat and Luke [McCormack]; Jeamie Tshikeva. It’s all a blessing,” Itauma expressed. “We’ve [me and Joshua] crossed paths a few times and I’ve asked him a lot of questions, just about life; about money; about experience. He’s gave me some heads up – I’m grateful.”
Guidance from Experienced Trainer Ben Davison
Itauma’s decision to work with Davison has paid dividends, as the trainer’s attention to detail and expertise have helped the young boxer develop. Davison’s ability to identify and correct Itauma’s weaknesses during sparring sessions has been invaluable.
As Itauma continues his professional journey, the guidance and mentorship he’s receiving from Joshua and Davison are proving to be significant assets in his quest to reach the pinnacle of the heavyweight division.
