Fendero Claims Unanimous Decision Victory Over Veteran Mansilla in Quebec
On Saturday, at the Centre Gervais Auto in Quebec, Canada, Moreno Fendero claimed a unanimous decision victory over the veteran Rolando Mansilla in a middleweight bout on the undercard of the Christian Mbilli-Mark Heffron main event.
The 38-year-old Mansilla, carrying 14 prior losses, faced a younger opponent in the 24-year-old Fendero (6-0, 4 KOs). The age difference proved decisive, as Fendero outworked and outboxed Mansilla (19-15-1, 9 KOs) en route to winning the fight by scores of 60-54 (twice) and 60-53. One judge even awarded Fendero a 10-8 round, indicating his dominant performance.
“Fendero fought an aggressive yet intelligent fight, using his jab to set up powerful combinations that battered the fading Mansilla. While the veteran landed some hard counters, he was unable to trouble the younger man significantly. In the sixth round, Fendero launched a brutal body attack that had Mansilla visibly wilting, though the durable fighter managed to finish the fight on his feet.”
