Boxing Fans Eagerly Await Rematch Between Taylor and Catterall
The highly anticipated rematch between Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall is set to take place this Saturday, with the officials for the bout now confirmed. The first fight between the two boxers, which took place in Glasgow in February 2022, was marred by controversial scoring, with Taylor emerging victorious despite being knocked down in the eighth round and having a point deducted in the 11th.
Catterall, widely considered to have outboxed Taylor that night, was also unfortunate not to be declared the new undisputed super lightweight champion.
The long-standing rivals will now face off again at Leeds’ First Direct Arena, which is seen as more neutral territory than the previous bout in Scotland, where Taylor was the hometown favorite.
Officiating for the Rematch
The rematch will be overseen by referee Kevin Parker, who has officiated 1,018 fights in his career, with the biggest being the recent rematch between Chris Eubank Jr. and Liam Smith. The three judges appointed for the contest are Kieran McCann, Mark Bates, and Lee Every, hailing from Harrow Weald, Horley, and South Oxhey, respectively. Catterall, for his part, is from Chorley, Lancashire.
This highly anticipated non-title bout is sure to capture the attention of boxing enthusiasts, who will be eager to see if Catterall can once again outperform the reigning undisputed champion and secure the victory that eluded him in their first encounter.
