Legends Casino to Host Fight Card Featuring Roy Jones Jr.’s Trained Fighters
On June 28th, Legends Casino in Toppenish, Washington will host a fight card featuring three of legendary former world champion Roy Jones Jr.‘s trained fighters as the headliners.
Main Event: Andrew “White Lightning” Murphy Defends NBA Title
In the main event, local favorite and undefeated Andrew “White Lightning” Murphy will defend his National Boxing Association (NBA) super middleweight Americas title in an eight-round bout. Murphy, who is promoted by Devin Haney Promotions, hails from nearby Yakima, Washington.
Co-Main Event: Mandeep Jangra Defends NBA Intercontinental Title
The co-main event will see Mandeep Jangra, a former Commonwealth Games and Asian Games silver medalist, defend his NBA Intercontinental super featherweight title in a 10-round matchup.
Vacant NBA Americas Lightweight Title Fight
Additionally, undefeated Moldovan Piotr Apostol, now based in Bellevue, Washington, will take on Tacoma’s Gerardo Esquivel for the vacant NBA Americas lightweight championship.
“It’s like a family thing,” said the 24-year-old Murphy, who has trained under Jones since 2020. “We are all in the gym training every evening, and when we’re not there, we’re out on the farm helping with the animals.”
Murphy (8-0, 5 KOs) will face Robelle Rogers (6-3, 2 KOs) from Lexington, Kentucky in his fourth fight at Legends Casino. Jangra (9-0, 6 KOs), a native of Kharian, India, will take on the undefeated Josue Cadena (5-0, 3 KOs) from Auburn, Washington.
The vacant NBA Americas lightweight title will be contested in an eight-round bout between Piotr Apostol (6-0, 2 KOs) of Moldova, now fighting out of Bellevue, and Gerardo Esquivel (5-4, 1 KO) of Tacoma.
The fight card, which will also feature several other local fighters, is being promoted by Roy Jones Jr. Boxing and will be streamed live on BLK Prime PPV. Tickets are available for purchase at the Legends Casino Gift Shop and online through Ticketmaster.
