Robby Gonzales Secures Second Win for Team USA at 2024 World Qualification Tournament
Las Vegas, May 4, 2023 – Robby Gonzales, the 2021 World Champion gold medalist, secured a unanimous decision victory for Team USA on the second day of the 2024 World Qualification Tournament in Bangkok, Thailand. Gonzales, competing in the 80 kg division, dominated his Moroccan opponent, Ahmed Badrani, winning the first two rounds 4-1 and the final round 5-0.
Gonzales’ victory marks the second win for Team USA, which is represented by eight boxers in the tournament. The team is being guided by USA Boxing’s head coach, Billy Walsh, along with a coaching staff that includes National Resident Coach Timothy Nolan, National Development Coach Chad Wigle, and assistant coaches Adonis Frazier and Christine Lopez.
