Iglesias Earns Stunning First-Round KO in Co-Feature Bout
On Thursday night at the Montreal Casino in Montreal, Canada, Osleys Iglesias, an up-and-coming boxer, solidified his status as a rising star in the sport by delivering a stunning first-round knockout victory over Evgeny Shvedenko in their scheduled 12-round co-feature bout.
The 26-year-old Iglesias, fighting from a southpaw stance, initially felt out his opponent, probing with a right hook. However, a well-placed left hand from the young Cuban immediately caught Shvedenko’s attention, leaving noticeable redness on the 33-year-old’s temple.
“The decisive moment came when Iglesias unleashed the same right hook that had started the fight. The punch landed flush, leaving Shvedenko (16-1-1, 7 KOs) unconscious and convulsing on the canvas. Referee Jerome Bruno Lades had no choice but to immediately wave off the contest, with the fight ending at the 2:48 mark of the opening round.”
Iglesias (11-0, 10 KOs) has now fought just two rounds in 2024, including a first-round knockout victory over Marcelo Coceres earlier this year, further cementing his reputation as a rising force in the sport.
Biyarslanov Stops Haedo in the Fourth Round
In another bout on the card, undefeated junior welterweight Movladdin Biyarslanov (15-0, 13 KOs) stopped Elias Mauricio Haedo (14-6, 10 KOs) at the 2:59 mark of the fourth round. Though Haedo’s awkward movement initially posed challenges, the 29-year-old Biyarslanov methodically applied pressure, targeting both the body and head of his 26-year-old opponent. As the fight progressed, Biyarslanov’s relentless body shots wore down Haedo, who became less mobile by the fourth round. With less than 20 seconds remaining in the frame, Biyarslanov landed a decisive straight left that floored Haedo, who was unable to beat the count.
