Former “Fab Five” Teammates Brewer and Gausha Reunite for World Title Shot
In the captivating world of boxing, two former members of the renowned “Fab Five” amateur program in Cleveland, Ohio, have reunited. Prenice Brewer, now serving as an assistant coach to Manny Robles, will be in the corner of his longtime friend, Terrell Gausha, as the latter aims to capture his first world title against WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames on the undercard of the Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin pay-per-view event.
Gausha, a 2012 U.S. Olympian, has had a mixed journey in the professional ranks, with his biggest triumph being a violent second-round technical knockout over Jamontay Clark. However, he has also faced setbacks, such as a unanimous decision loss to Tim Tszyu. Undeterred, Gausha has stepped up from 154 to 160 pounds, earning a majority decision win over KeAndre Leatherwood in his most recent fight.
“Terrell has been a professional through and through for this camp,” Brewer said. “He didn’t cut any corners and has been investing in all the right stuff, from recovery to nutrition.”
Adames, the newly crowned WBC middleweight champion, will be making his first title defense against the experienced Gausha. Brewer believes the champion may feel the pressure of this challenge, stating, “I think Adames has a lot of pressure on his shoulders coming into this fight and something to prove.”
Brewer is confident in Gausha’s ability to compete and take control of the fight from the opening bell to the final round, drawing on his seasoned fighter’s experience as an advantage.
“Everything he has been through, the journey he went on, led him to this camp being as good as it is,” Brewer said. “I have never seen a fighter stick to a plan and follow it the way Terrell has for this camp.”
The highly anticipated showdown between Gausha and Adames promises to be an exciting chapter in the former Olympian’s quest to achieve the one thing that has eluded him: a world title.
