Queensberry Promotions Bolsters Roster with Signings of Former Champion Chantelle Cameron and Aadam Hamed
In a move that has generated excitement among boxing enthusiasts, Queensberry Promotions announced the signings of former undisputed super lightweight champion Chantelle Cameron and Aadam Hamed, the son of featherweight Hall of Famer Naseem Hamed.
The 32-year-old Cameron, hailing from Northampton, had previously been associated with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing stable. Her switch to Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions was described as a natural progression. “You can expect fireworks,” Cameron stated at the media conference, promising to unleash “vengeance” and channel her frustrations from the “ups and downs” she has endured.
Cameron’s defining performance came in May 2023 when she defeated Katie Taylor over 10 rounds in Dublin, becoming the first boxer to do so in the professional ranks. However, the contractually mandated rematch six months later resulted in Taylor, promoted by Hearn, reclaiming the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO belts from Cameron.
“I’m over the moon, I can’t wait to get started with Queensberry,” said Cameron. “I’ve always liked Frank Warren, I think he keeps it real. I’m going to make a statement at 140 pounds, I’m coming to get my belts back.”
The addition of Aadam Hamed to the Queensberry roster follows in the footsteps of his father, Naseem Hamed, who had his peak years guided by Frank Warren. The 22-year-old super lightweight, who has been based in Dubai, turned professional in August last year with a first-round stoppage victory.
“I always wanted a UK promoter and I always knew in my heart that I wanted it to be Frank,” Hamed shared. “I felt like he’s always going to look after me the most – I look at him like family, big up Uncle Frank.”
Warren expressed confidence in Hamed’s potential, acknowledging the challenges of stepping into the sport with the burden of his father’s legacy. “It’s going to be a real hard journey, but I think he’s got the dedication for it,” Warren stated.
The signings of Cameron and Hamed underscore Queensberry Promotions’ commitment to building a formidable stable of boxing talent, poised to captivate audiences with their skills and determination.
