Queensberry Promotions Returns to London’s York Hall for Action-Packed Boxing Event
London, UK – April 15, 2023 – Queensberry Promotions made a triumphant return to the historic York Hall in London tonight, delivering an exciting triple title show for boxing enthusiasts.
The main event featured a crossroads battle between Denzel Bentley and Danny Dignum, but the evening got underway with a well-matched cruiserweight clash between Oronzo Biradi, 8-0 (6 KOs), and Milans Volkovs, 10-3-2 (6 KOs).
Volkovs took control of the center of the ring in the opening round, landing a sharp left hook and a crisp right uppercut. However, the more active Biradi established his jab in the second round and began to land his right hand effectively in the third. Volkovs maintained his composure and dangerous straight shots, but Biradi’s variety and relentless pressure kept him a step ahead. The Italian fighter cut loose in the sixth round, briefly hurting Volkovs with a powerful right hand. Though Volkovs responded with a picture-perfect right uppercut in the seventh, Biradi’s deserved decision victory was secured, with referee Lee Every scoring the fight 77-75.
In the middleweight clash, Romania’s Ioan Lutic, 3-8 (3 KOs), decided to engage in an all-out war with the big-punching southpaw Ben Fail, 6-0 (5 KOs), from Northampton. Fail was more than happy to oblige, and after hurting Lutic to the body, he unleashed a barrage of accurate two-handed attacks, prompting referee Amy Pu to stop the contest at the 2:05 mark of the opening round.
The evening’s action also featured a comfortable six-round decision victory for Khalid Ali, 8-0 (3 KOs), over Colombia’s John Henry Mosquera at super welterweight. Ali showcased his excellent footwork and precision, starting the fight with a well-timed southpaw right hook and landing straight left hands throughout. Despite revealing a torn right bicep injury sustained in the opening round, Ali’s 60-54 scorecard triumph was a formality.
Overall, the Queensberry Promotions event at London’s York Hall delivered an exciting night of boxing, setting the stage for the highly anticipated main event between Denzel Bentley and Danny Dignum.
