Boxing Sensation Oscar Collazo Gears Up for Title Defense at IBHOF Weekend
Undefeated WBO strawweight world champion Oscar “El Pupilo” Collazo is primed and ready for his upcoming championship clash in upstate New York on June 7. Collazo (9-0, 7 KOs), hailing from Villaba, Puerto Rico, will face off against Gerardo Zapata (14-1-1) of Managua, Nicaragua, in a highly anticipated 12-round showdown.
The event, co-promoted by Miguel Cotto Promotions and broadcast live on DAZN, will take place at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York, as part of the prestigious International Boxing Hall of Fame’s Induction Weekend festivities.
“I feel great – strong, fast and very excited for my third world title defense,” expressed the confident champion Collazo. “We are one and a half weeks away from fight night, and this camp has been perfect. We have a great game plan for Zapata, and all the fans will see another masterpiece performance.”
Zapata, a tall and tough fighter who likes to engage, will pose a formidable challenge for Collazo. However, the undefeated titleholder remains unfazed, stating, “We have 12 rounds to do our job and get a dominant victory. I am ready for the best version of Gerardo Zapata.”
