Former U.S. Amateur Standout Nathan Lugo Signs Promotional Deal with Frank Warren’s Queensberry
In a significant move within the boxing landscape, the promising young prospect Nathan Lugo has signed a promotional agreement with the esteemed Frank Warren and his Queensberry organization. This announcement comes on the heels of Lugo’s impressive professional debut in April, where he stopped Robert Lartigue in just 93 seconds in Atlanta, knocking him down twice.
The 19-year-old, known as the “Brickbuster,” is managed by David McWater and has an impressive amateur pedigree. Lugo, coached by his father Mike, amassed over 40 stoppages in the amateurs and boasted an exceptional record of 223-19. He became a National Amateur champion on 23 occasions and captured multiple international gold medals. Remarkably, in 2022, Lugo became the youngest ever fighter to qualify for the Olympic trials by winning the Elite National title.
“I feel very honored coming straight out of the amateurs and immediately stepping into a powerhouse promotional company such as Queensberry,” Lugo expressed. “It has a very rich and amazing history within the sport and promotes the careers of today’s best boxers. I know with their guidance and leadership, I will make history.”
Lugo’s father, Mike, echoed the sentiment, stating:
“To have Nathan under the Queensberry banner and representing his family is an absolute honor. One that very few will ever get to have. Trust that we will make them proud. With the types of high-end platforms and opportunities Queensberry provides boxers within their stable, it is only a matter of time before the name Lugo is known around the world.”
Renowned manager David McWater shared his enthusiasm for Lugo’s signing with Queensberry, stating:
“Their ability to recognize and guide the top-tier boxers is well documented over the course of several decades. Today, Queensberry is second to none with regards to strength within the sport. I couldn’t be happier they are bringing Nathan aboard.”
Frank Warren, the founder of Queensberry, expressed his excitement about the new signing, saying:
“In Nathan, we have clearly got a serious talent on our hands, as evidenced by his amateur pedigree. This signing, albeit one from the USA, follows in a familiar and successful pattern for Queensberry. Taking a top young fighter, almost from scratch, and hopefully guiding him correctly towards significant title triumphs.”
