BOXING STAR MIKE PERRY FINDS NEW HOME IN BARE-KNUCKLE FIGHTING
LAS VEGAS, April 30 – For Mike Perry, the discipline of combat sports – be it traditional boxing, mixed martial arts, or the emerging world of bare-knuckle boxing – has always been about one-on-one competition, the ultimate test of individual skills.
After a successful run in the UFC, where he became a headliner and earned performance and fight night bonuses, Perry left the premier MMA promotion in 2021, seeking a new challenge. That challenge has come in the form of the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), where Perry has quickly become the main attraction.
In front of a sellout crowd of 7,300 in Los Angeles on April 27th, Perry knocked out former BKFC champion Thiago Alves in just one minute, cementing his status as a must-see attraction in the world of bare-knuckle boxing. While he recently faced off against YouTube star Jake Paul in a boxing match, losing by TKO in the sixth round, Perry’s home has emerged as the BKFC.
“Everybody says I was made for this,” Perry said. “This was made for me.”
The training regimen for bare-knuckle fighting is similar to boxing, with Perry sparring in 16-ounce gloves. However, he must also find ways to strengthen his fists to avoid injury on fight night, going through a routine of pounding his knuckles followed by recovery.
The risk of hand injuries is just one of the challenges bare-knuckle fighters face, but for Perry, the allure of the sport’s pure, one-on-one nature is what drew him in. “It’s kind of crazy, but I am the BKFC sport,” he said. “As long as I multiply, the sky’s the limit.”
With his flashy performances and willingness to trade blows, Mike Perry has become the face of the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, earning lucrative paydays and captivating audiences in the process. As the sport continues to grow in popularity, Perry’s star power is only expected to rise further.
