Mayweather Promotions CEO Gears Up for Big Fight Night Featuring Gervonta “Tank” Davis
Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe is gearing up to promote another highly anticipated event this Saturday, as his prized fighter Gervonta “Tank” Davis, the reigning WBA lightweight champion, takes on the undefeated Frank Martin.
The bout, which will be the 100th championship fight night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, is part of a PBC card co-headlined by the clash between David Benavidez and Oleksandr Gvozdyk. The event will air on Prime Video and PPV.com.
Despite the fractured relationship between Davis (29-0, 27 KOs) and his longtime mentor, boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr., Ellerbe remains heavily involved in propelling the young fighter’s career forward. Davis has been operating as a promotional free agent since his knockout victory over Rolando “Rolly” Romero in May 2022, competing under his own banner, GTD Promotions, on cards staged by TGB Promotions.
“Trust me, Shakur is going to get that work. He’s asking for it, and he’s going to get it. It ain’t what he thinks it is. I can’t wait for it to happen.”

Davis recently revealed that he has secured a new six- to seven-fight deal, which he claims will eclipse the $200 million contract Mayweather signed with Showtime in 2013. While he did not divulge additional details, Davis did mention that WBC junior welterweight titleholder Shakur Stevenson is listed as a potential future opponent.
Ellerbe expressed confidence in Davis’ ability to defeat Stevenson, stating, “Trust me, Shakur is going to get that work. He’s asking for it, and he’s going to get it. It ain’t what he thinks it is. I can’t wait for it to happen.” He also did not rule out a potential showdown with former undisputed lightweight champion and current WBC junior welterweight titleholder Devin Haney, noting that Haney is “one of the guys on Tank’s list.”
As for the upcoming clash with Frank Martin (18-0, 12 KOs), Ellerbe acknowledged the challenger’s skills, describing him as “a very good, slick fighter with good skills, athleticism, speed and solid power.” However, the Mayweather Promotions CEO remains steadfast in his belief that Davis will emerge victorious, declaring, “Tank can do it all. He’s a complete fighter. He can box. He can bang. He has a great defense and can take a great shot. It’s going to be fireworks and a great fight. But Martin ain’t f****** with Tank, though.”
