Boxing Rivals McGrail and Leach Make Weight Ahead of Highly-Anticipated Clash
Liverpool, England – In a thrilling showdown set for tomorrow night, local hero Peter McGrail (8-1, 5 KOs) and challenger Marc Leach (18-3-1, 4 KOs) have both successfully made the 122-pound limit for their Matchroom NXTGN headline bout in Liverpool.
McGrail, hailing from the boxing hotbed of Liverpool, tipped the scales at 121.8 pounds, while Salford’s Leach weighed in at 121.2 pounds. The highly anticipated super bantamweight clash will see the WBA International title on the line, as well as a final eliminator for Dennis McCann’s coveted British championship.
This bout holds added significance for McGrail, as he looks to avenge his sole professional defeat. In December, Ja’Rico O’Quinn pulled off a surprise fifth-round knockout over the Commonwealth gold medalist, handing McGrail his first professional loss.
“This is a must-win fight for me,” said McGrail. “I’m determined to get that loss back and prove that I’m the better fighter.”
Rounding out the undercard, a host of exciting domestic matchups will precede the main event. Notable highlights include the Commonwealth Silver Title and English Super-Welterweight Title eliminator between Junaid Bostan and Jack Martin, as well as several international contests across the lower weight classes.
With the fighters having made weight, the stage is set for a thrilling night of boxing action in the heart of Liverpool. Fans can expect a fiercely competitive main event as the local hero McGrail seeks redemption against the determined challenger Leach.
