Lightweight Contender Keyshawn Davis Remains Undefeated After Dominant Display Against Mexico’s Miguel Madueno
Newark, New Jersey – June 10, 2023
Keyshawn Davis, the rising lightweight contender, maintained his unbeaten record with an impressive performance against Mexico’s Miguel Madueno on the undercard of the Shakur Stevenson-Artem Harutyunyan main event last Saturday.
Despite Madueno’s remarkable toughness, the American’s superior skills and hand speed proved too much for the Mexican fighter. Davis (11-0, 8 KOs) utilized his exceptional footwork and upper-body movement to land precise punches from close range, frustrating Madueno’s (31-3, 28 KOs) determined but sloppy offense.
“He was tougher than I expected,” admitted Davis after the fight. “This was the most physical pro fight I’ve had, but I had fun in there.”
While Madueno refused to back down and continued to charge forward with a swarming attack, Davis’ speed and ring generalship allowed him to slip much of the incoming fire and counter effectively. As the fight progressed, Davis grew increasingly dominant, breaking down his opponent and landing fierce combinations on the inside.
Despite Madueno’s valiant efforts, the judges unanimously scored the fight 99-91 in favor of Davis, reflecting his clear dominance. The CompuBox statistics underscored this, with Davis landing 49% of his punches (194 of 398) compared to just 14% (63 of 461) for Madueno.
When asked about his future plans, the undefeated lightweight contender expressed his willingness to face any opponent Top Rank puts in front of him, hinting at his readiness for a potential title shot.
This dominant performance by Keyshawn Davis not only solidifies his status as a rising star in the lightweight division but also showcases his versatility, skill, and determination to reach the top of the sport.
