Boxing Results: Kevin Brown Prevails in Thrilling Split Decision over Idalberto Umara
In the main event at the Caribe Royale Hotel in Orlando last night, Kevin Brown (5-0, 3 KOs) emerged victorious over Idalberto Umara (12-3, 8 KOs) in a 10-round super lightweight clash, securing a split decision win.
The bout was a heated affair, with both fighters engaged in a series of intense exchanges throughout. While Umara landed a thunderous left uppercut in the fourth round that sent Brown to the canvas for the first time in his career, the resilient Brown recovered swiftly and came back strong in the fifth round.
“These are the type of fights I’ve been seeking since I turned professional,” said a jubilant Brown. “I knew I was going to be in a tough fight, and I showed I can overcome adversity when it presents itself. Umara caught me with a nice blow, but I recovered and came back strong. I want to thank everyone, my promoters, my trainers, and my fans, for all their support. Tonight’s victory was amazing.”
In the second half of the fight, Brown continued to apply relentless pressure, forcing Umara to fight on the back foot. The scorecards reflected the close nature of the contest, with judges ruling 96-93 for Brown, 97-92 for Umara, and 97-92 for Brown.
Co-Main Event: Gurgen Hovhannisyan Secures Knockout Victory
In the co-main event, Gurgen Hovhannisyan (6-0, 6 KOs) secured a second-round knockout victory over Luis Pascual (19-11, 17 KOs) in their scheduled eight-round heavyweight bout. Pascual was unable to answer the bell for round three after being dropped by a vicious right uppercut in the second round.
“I felt very strong going into this fight, and I took my time to set up my punches,” said Hovhannisyan. “With each fight, I’m learning how to stay relaxed and be more comfortable. I was surprised Pascual got up from that knockdown, but it showed he had a lot of heart. I’ll be ready to get back in the ring as soon as possible.”
The undercard featured several other exciting bouts, including wins for Hendri Cedeno, Angel Barrientes, Zeleck Ruiz, Orlenis Licea, Kaipo Gallegos, and Antraveous Ingram.
