Electrifying Homecoming: Jaron “Boots” Ennis to Defend Welterweight Title in Philadelphia
Philadelphia, July 6th – In a highly anticipated boxing event, Jaron “Boots” Ennis will defend his welterweight championship against Cody Crowley at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Saturday, July 13. This marks Ennis’ return to his hometown after a year-long hiatus, where he will look to captivate his loyal fans with a dominant performance.
Ennis (31-0, 28 KOs), the 26-year-old rising star from Germantown, Pennsylvania, will be making his first bout as a full titleholder. The interim champion was recently elevated to the full IBF welterweight champion, and he aims to solidify his status atop the division. Ennis last competed in July 2022, securing a 10th-round knockout victory over Roiman Villa in Atlantic City.
“I’m excited for my homecoming, especially being the first to fight at the Wells Fargo Center, the biggest arena in Philly,” said Ennis. “I can’t wait to show out and put on a beautiful, dominating, crushing performance in front of my family, friends and supporters while defending and retaining my IBF world title in spectacular fashion.”
Crowley (22-0, 9 KOs), a 31-year-old Canadian based in Las Vegas, will be getting his first shot at a world title against the formidable Ennis. The undefeated challenger is eager to seize the opportunity and prove his worth on the big stage.
“Ten years ago, I arrived in Las Vegas with a dream of becoming world champion, unbroken by the sport,” Crowley stated. “The only thing left to do is prove to the world in the City of Brotherly Love that I am an undefeated champion, my spirit is unbeatable and I will fight for those who are too scared to fight.”
Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has expressed his eagerness to showcase more of Ennis’ fights in Philadelphia, recognizing the boxer’s strong local following and the city’s passionate sports fans.
“This is just the beginning for Jaron in Philadelphia, a town that absolutely loves their sport, and in Jaron they can boast that their hometown hero is the best in the business,” Hearn said. “July 13 is going to be a massive night; we can’t wait to come back to Philadelphia for the first of many epic nights with Boots.”
The Ennis-Crowley bout will be streamed live on DAZN, providing fans around the world the opportunity to witness this thrilling welterweight championship clash.
