Boxing Sensation Jamar Talley Scores Impressive Stoppage Win in Thailand
Jamar Talley, a boxer from Camden, New Jersey, delivered a statement victory in his second Olympic qualifying tournament. He secured a first-round stoppage over Iran’s Ali Faithigovashini in Thailand.
“I am just thankful for another opportunity to qualify for Paris. All glory to God and I am grateful for my team and coaches, and now on to the next one,” Talley said after his commanding performance.
Elsewhere on the day, other Team USA boxers also took to the ring:
- Robby Gonzales of Las Vegas, Nevada, started strong, winning the opening round 4-1 against Thailand’s Weerapon Jongjoho, but the hometown fighter took the second round 5-0. Gonzales fought back in the final round, winning 3-2, but ultimately lost a narrow 3-2 decision.
- Naomi Graham of Fayetteville, North Carolina, put up a spirited effort but fell short 4-1 against Brazil’s Vivlane Pereira.
Tomorrow, Shera Mae Patricio of Waianae, Hawaii, will make her debut for Team USA in the 54kg division, facing off against Ulzhan Sarsenbek of Kazakhstan. Emilio Garcia of Laredo, Texas, will also return to the ring for his second appearance, just three wins away from securing his place at the Paris Olympics.
