Despite being considered the significant underdog, the 27-year-old Munguia is expected to present a formidable physical test for the reigning champion, Alvarez, who is widely regarded as one of the world’s most intelligent and technically proficient fighters.
Munguia’s Aggressive Style and Freddie Roach’s Guidance
Munguia, known for his high punch output and aggressive style, has already stopped 33 of his 42 opponents. He recently recruited legendary trainer Freddie Roach, who is renowned for his ability to improve fighters’ offensive prowess.
Munguia Acknowledges the Mental Challenge
In his pre-fight remarks at the MGM Grand, Munguia acknowledged the mental challenge that lies ahead, stating, >”The main thing is, we can’t get over-confident. It’s gonna be a very mental fight; a very cerebral fight, where we’ve got to pick our spots and be sure about what we’re doing on Saturday night.”
Roach, who first worked with Munguia for his victory over John Ryder, expressed his confidence in his fighter’s ability to deliver a knockout performance, saying, >”I’m looking for the knockout and he is also.”
A Momentous Cinco de Mayo Clash
