Hamza Uddin: The British-Bangladeshi Boxer Chasing History
Hamza Uddin, a 20-year-old flyweight boxer, is relishing the overwhelming support he’s receiving in his quest to become the first-ever British-Bangladeshi world champion. On Saturday, June 22nd, at Birmingham’s Resorts World Arena – near his hometown of Walsall – Uddin will fight Jose Maria Hernandez on the undercard of the European middleweight title bout between Tyler Denny and Felix Cash.
Uddin acknowledged that he could have been preparing to compete at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris, but he’s grateful for the unwavering backing of the Walsall community and the British-Bangladeshi community. “It’s an absolute honour to have these communities behind me for this fight,” he said. “The support I’ve received is truly special, not just during my professional journey, but ever since I started boxing, which spans over 15 years.”
The young boxer expressed that the tremendous support he’s enjoyed is one of his primary motivating forces to become the first-ever British-Bangladeshi world champion. “So many will be at my fight on June 22, and I can’t wait to achieve my dreams and aspirations, not only for myself but for those who continue to be by my side and have believed in me since the beginning,” he added.
Uddin’s upcoming bout against the 27-year-old Spaniard, Jose Maria Hernandez, promises to be an exciting event for Boxing enthusiasts, as the British-Bangladeshi fighter seeks to make history and secure his place in the sport’s elite.
