Spotlight on Detroit’s Boxing Talent: Salita Promotions and DAZN Team Up for “Big Time Boxing USA” Series
In a move to uncover and showcase the rich boxing talent hailing from Detroit and its surrounding areas, promoter Dmitriy Salita has teamed up with DAZN to present the “Big Time Boxing USA” series. The inaugural event is set to take place on May 23 at the Wayne State Fieldhouse in Detroit, featuring a stacked lineup of promising domestic fighters.
Heavyweight Contender Jermaine Franklin Headlining the Event
Headlining the event is heavyweight contender Jermaine Franklin (22-2, 14 KOs), who will face former U.S. Olympian Devin Vargas (11-10, 9 KOs) in a 10-round bout. The 30-year-old Franklin, hailing from Saginaw, Michigan, recently impressed with his performances against the likes of Dillian Whyte and Anthony Joshua in the UK, and he now looks to showcase his skills in front of his hometown fans.
“I want to show the world the new Jermaine,” Franklin said. “I have some new smoke to show boxing fans. I learned so much after the Joshua fight. I must trust myself and my skills. My team told me, ‘If you want the belt, you have to go for it.’ You will see a new Jermaine. I promise that.”
Co-Main Event: NABF Title Bout
The co-main event will feature an NABF title bout between undefeated Grand Rapids fighter Joshua James Pagan (9-0, 4 KOs) and fellow unbeaten 140-pounder Roger Hilley (13-0, 8 KOs) of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Local Prospects Showcased
Rounding out the card are a host of local prospects, including Detroit’s undefeated “Hitman 2.0” Da’Velle Smith (8-0, 6 KOs), once-beaten Dearborn-based Husam Al Mashhadi (9-1, 8 KOs), and the undefeated Luis Quintero (7-0, 7 KOs) from Mount Clemens.
“We’ve assembled some of the baddest men from the Detroit boxing scene for this fight card,” said Salita. “Future world champions facing tough competition in a true test of mettle and looking to take the next step – this is what the ‘Big Time Boxing‘ series is all about.”
The “Big Time Boxing USA” series aims to provide a global platform for promising domestic fighters, with Detroit and its storied boxing history serving as the perfect backdrop. With the support of DAZN and the passionate local fan base, this event promises to be a showcase of the region’s rich boxing talent.
