Denzel Bentley Dominates Dignum, Eyes Redemption Bout with Heaney
Just six months after losing his British middleweight title, Denzel Bentley roared back into contention with a stunning stoppage victory over former sparring partner Danny Dignum at London’s York Hall on Saturday night.
The 29-year-old Londoner, who had been written off by some after his defeat to an inspired Nathan Heaney, showed no signs of pressure or self-doubt, calmly and confidently dismantling Dignum inside two rounds. Bentley (19-3-1, 16 KOs) floored his opponent twice with blistering body shots before closing the show with a clean right hook to the head.
Promoter George Warren was impressed by Bentley’s dominant display, hailing it as the best performance of his career, on par with his brave showing against WBO and IBF champion Janibek Alimkhanuly. “Denzel thinks he wasn’t right that night against Heaney, so naturally, I’d love to see that fight again eventually,” Warren said, suggesting a redemption bout could be in the works.
With Heaney otherwise occupied and stablemate Hamzah Sheeraz focused on his own upcoming clash, Warren revealed plans to keep the heavy-handed Bentley active, targeting a return to the ring in July on a big London show. “We want him out fighting regularly,” Warren affirmed. “With performances and stoppages like that, he’s gonna be hard to match.”

The middleweight division has moved on since Bentley’s title loss, but his emphatic victory over Dignum serves as a timely reminder of his world-class abilities. While the rematch with Heaney may have to wait, the path is now clear for Bentley to build on this momentum and potentially secure another shot at the big prizes in the near future.
