MGM Grand Hosts 100th Championship Boxing Event: Adames Defends Title Against Gausha
Las Vegas, March 18 – Carlos Adames, the reigning WBC 160-pound titleholder from the Dominican Republic, is thrilled to be part of the MGM Grand’s historic 100th championship boxing event this Saturday. The 23-1 (18 KOs) fighter is making his first title defense against former Olympian Terrell Gausha, who hails from Cleveland but trains out of Encino, California.
“It’s an honor to be here for MGM Grand’s 100th fight card,” said the popular Adames. Despite being a relatively new champion, the boxer expressed confidence in his abilities, stating, “I think it’s going to be easier because I’ve always had the heart, hunger and conviction I can be [a titleholder] and I will be for a long time.”
Adames is revered as the “people’s champion” in his home country, and he is eager to represent his fans.
“They know they have a responsible and eager champion in their hands, they know I want them to wave the flag and represent them,” he said, promising an exciting spectacle for the fans on Saturday.
The stacked undercard features other notable fighters, including Gervonta “Tank” Davis, Frank Martin, and David Benavidez, who will take on Oleksandr Gvozdyk in a light heavyweight clash.
Gausha, meanwhile, is ready for the challenge. Wearing Scarface-themed shorts and a sparkling diamond pendant, the former Olympian said,
“I feel great. I’m just ready. We had to work hard [in camp] because this is a big fight and I want to bring that belt back to the city of Cleveland.”
