Saul “Canelo” Alvarez Seeks Redemption with Trilogy Fight Against Gennady “GGG” Golovkin
In a highly anticipated rematch, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will face off against Gennady “GGG” Golovkin on September 17th. The bout, which will take place at a venue yet to be announced, will see the two men compete for the five world middleweight titles currently held by the 31-year-old Guadalajara-born fighter.
This will be the third meeting between the two boxing superstars, with their first encounter in September 2017 ending in a 12-round draw. A year later, Alvarez managed to defeat Golovkin by a majority decision. Now, almost five years since their last clash, the two will once again step into the ring to settle the score.
Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 knockouts) is seeking to bounce back after suffering his first loss since 2013, when he was defeated by Dmitry Bivol in a WBA super lightweight title fight earlier this month. The Mexican champion is determined to avenge this recent setback and reclaim his position as one of the sport’s dominant forces.
On the other hand, the 40-year-old Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 knockouts) is coming off a dominant nine-round TKO victory over Ryoto Murata in Saitama, Japan, in April. The Kazakhstani fighter will be looking to capitalize on this momentum and finally secure a win over his long-time rival.
“With both men at the peak of their careers and carrying an intense personal rivalry, this trilogy fight is sure to captivate boxing enthusiasts around the world. Fans can expect a thrilling and hard-fought encounter as Canelo and GGG battle for middleweight supremacy.”
