Boxing Enthusiast Babic Cautions Okolie Against Engaging Recklessly with Rozanski
In a highly anticipated bridgerweight clash, former cruiserweight titleholder Lawrence Okolie will step into the ring to challenge the undefeated Lukasz Rozanski this Saturday night in Rzeszow, Poland.
Okolie (19-1, 14 KOs), a British Olympian, is making his return following a defeat to Chris Billam-Smith in May 2022, where he lost his world 200-pound title. Rozanski (15-0, 14 KOs), the Polish fighter, recently scored a clinical one-round victory over Alen Babic last April.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Babic, who has served as a sparring partner for Okolie in preparation for this fight, offered a word of caution to the challenger. “Rozanski does create a storm,” Babic said. “[Rozanski] can’t outbox Lawrence Okolie, for sure. He’s a bit older and at the end of his career, so he knows all of it. That’s why I said to Lawrence, ‘Don’t get into his fight. He’s going to run at you.’ He’s going to literally run across the ring for Okolie.”
Babic believes that Okolie possesses the necessary tools to defeat Rozanski, particularly his lethal right hand and powerful uppercut. However, he also warned that Okolie’s tendency to get distracted could prove costly. “The right hand of Okolie might as well be the deciding factor of this fight,” Babic claimed. “[Okolie] is bigger than me. He is twice the size of Rozanski. He is big. He is strong. He can take a punch. He can give a punch. But also, he can get distracted.”
With the bridgerweight division still in its early stages, this bout promises to be a captivating clash between two determined and skilled fighters. Okolie will need to heed Babic’s advice and maintain his focus throughout the fight to emerge victorious against the aggressive and experienced Rozanski.
