Primo Carnera Memorial and Boxing Roundup
The 37th edition of the annual Primo Carnera Memorial is set to take place on July 14 in the champ’s hometown of Sequals, Italy. The week-long festivities will be capped off by a highly anticipated boxing event, promoted by Mario Loreni’s PromoBoxe Italia.
In the main event, middleweight Samuel Nmomah (19-0) will defend his WBC International Silver title against Ukrainian challenger Oleksandr Shytyi (8-1-2).
Marco Huck’s Return
Former multiple cruiserweight champion Marco Huck (42-5-1) is making a return to the ring on June 29 at the Estrel Congress Center in Berlin. He will face off against Evgenios Lazaridis (19-5). Huck had previously moved up to heavyweight, but his career in the division never quite took off. He has been inactive since 2020, with scheduled bouts in 2021 and 2023 being withdrawn due to injury.

Light heavyweight Oscar Ahlin (26-2) suffered a torn biceps muscle in his left arm during his victory over Michal Ryba on April 13. Ahlin has undergone surgery and is expected to begin rehabilitation training in two weeks’ time.
Cruiserweight Goran Babic (8-2-2) experienced a setback in his fight against Jonathan Kogasso on April 23, where he was knocked down three times and ultimately lost the bout. In the process, Babic sustained a cruciate ligament injury in one of his legs. He is now back home in Stockholm, Sweden, and is scheduled to undergo surgery later this month. Babic hopes to make a quicker recovery than the renowned footballer Zlatan Ibrahimović, who spent seven months recovering from a similar injury.
“I am determined to make a full recovery and get back in the ring as soon as possible,” said Babic.
