Exciting Boxing Showdown: Alexis “Lex” Rocha to Face Undefeated Santiago “Somer” Dominguez at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino
Southern California’s fan-favorite boxer Alexis “Lex” Rocha (24-2, 16 KOs) will take on the undefeated Santiago “Somer” Dominguez (27-0, 20 KOs) of Ciudad Obregón, Mexico in a highly anticipated 12-round welterweight clash at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio on July 19.
Rocha, thrilled by the opportunity to headline another card, stated, “I’ve already proven that I was able to come back after a loss. My losses don’t define me. What defines me is the way I respond to the losses. This next fight is another test in me realizing my ultimate dream of becoming world champion. I’m focused on more knockouts for the fans.“
Dominguez, the younger brother of former world title challenger Ronny Rios, expressed his excitement for the fight, saying, “Alexis Rocha is a great fighter – I have followed his career and he is well respected. On the fight night though, Alexis Rocha will find a fighter that is coming to win. It will be a great fight, our styles will really collide. This fight will end in a knockout.“
Rocha, a six-time national champion during his amateur career, caught the attention of the boxing world at a young age, becoming the youngest fighter to win a gold medal at the Junior Olympics in 2012. His only career losses have come against Rashidi Ellis and Giovanni Santillan, but he bounced back with a knockout victory over Ghanaian Fredrick Lawson on March 30.
Dominguez, the undefeated fighter from Ciudad Obregón, Mexico, has worked tirelessly to climb up the welterweight division, holding several regional titles throughout his career. He now hopes to prove that he is ready to be considered a world title contender.
“Last time, Lex went in against an undefeated fighter, his championship dreams got put on hold. Fans are going to want to tune in July 19 to see if he can rise again,” said Golden Boy chairman and CEO Oscar De La Hoya.
