On Friday at the Bolton Whites Hotel in Lancashire, U.K., Germany’s Abass Baraou claimed the European Boxing Union’s junior middleweight title with a dominant unanimous decision victory over England’s Macaulay McGowan.
Baraou, boasting a professional record of 16-1 with 9 knockouts, outpointed his opponent over the 12-round contest, with the judges unanimously scoring the bout in his favor (117-111, 119-110, 118-110). McGowan’s record now stands at 20-5-2 with 5 knockouts.
