On July 6th, rising boxing star Abdullah Mason will take center stage as the TV opener for the ESPN card headlined by Shakur Stevenson and Artem Harutyunyan at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The 20-year-old prodigy from Cleveland, Ohio (13-0, 11 KOs) is tipped for greatness, and his latest bout against Puerto Rican veteran Luis Lebron (20-5-1, 13 KOs) is expected to further solidify his burgeoning reputation.
Mason, who is trained by his father Valiant and is one of five boxing brothers, including Amir, Adel, Abdur-Rahman, and Ibrahim, is confident in his abilities and has already secured a spot on the August 17th undercard featuring Christian Mbilli and Sergiy Derevyanchenko. In 2022 and 2023, the young phenom has maintained an active schedule, fighting five times each year, with two bouts already under his belt in 2023.
Lebron, who has competed as light as featherweight but has campaigned at junior welterweight in his last two victories, will pose a challenging test for Mason. So, we’ve been preparing. Every time we step in the ring, we’re preparing to step under those lights.”
