Florida Boxing Hall of Fame Welcomes Class of 2024
On [DATE], boxing enthusiasts from across the sport gathered at the St. Petersburg Hilton, Lake Carillon in Florida to witness the induction of the class of 2024 into the prestigious Florida Boxing Hall of Fame. The three-day gala event was marked by a range of emotions, from tears of joy to moments of laughter, as the sport’s legends and luminaries were immortalized.
The Inductees
The list of fighters inducted into the Hall of Fame included John John Molina, Raul Frank, Edner Cherry, Jose Alonzo, David Diaz, and Stacy Prestage. Posthumous inductions honored the legacies of Saoul Mamby and Arthur Williams. In the trainer/manager category, Willie Vargas and Sherman Henson were enshrined, while Khalilah Escalera was inducted as a promoter.
Other Inductees
Representing the media, Jorge Ebro was recognized for his contributions, and in the ‘Participants’ category, John Beninati, Carl King, Raul Alvarez, and Marc Hager were all included. The officials and commissioners who were inducted into the Hall of Fame were Chris Young, Dr. Mark Gordon, Tim Shipman, and Kathy Gentile.
Special Achievements
Rounding out the class, Ivan Echevarria and Carlos Albuerne earned special achievement awards, and Geri Atkinson-Hazelton was the recipient of the prestigious Walter A. Flansburg Lifetime Award.
