Benavidez Confident Ahead of Gvozdyk Clash in Las Vegas
Las Vegas, [Current Date] – David Benavidez, the talented 27-year-old boxer, made a grand arrival at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas today, ahead of his highly anticipated co-main event bout against Oleksandr Gvozdyk this Saturday. The event will also feature the headline clash between Gervonta Davis and Frank Martin.
Benavidez, nicknamed the “Monster,” is moving up to the 175-pound division in pursuit of title opportunities, and he cannot avoid questions about a potential showdown with Mexican superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. “> I really believe in my heart it’s going to happen,” Benavidez said of the proposed fight with the unified 168-pound champion. “When? I don’t know, but we’re 100 percent ready to get that fight and get that victory as well. I’m ready to fight whoever and beat whoever.”
The undefeated Benavidez (28-0, 24 KOs) has built an impressive highlight reel and is determined to continue his dominance. “I worked extremely hard [in camp] and we’re going for the knockout this Saturday,” he stated. “My plan is just to conquer the light heavyweight weight class and the super middleweight weight class. Whoever comes, they can get it.”
Benavidez’s opponent, former WBC light heavyweight champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk (20-1, 16 KOs), believes the Phoenix-born boxer’s move up in weight might actually benefit him. “> He’s still big guy, so I’m expecting his best shape,” Gvozdyk said. “I don’t care if he’s moving up or moving down. I’m in my best shape and I’m expecting him to be in his best shape.”
The 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Gvozdyk, who is 38 years old, is confident in his experience and preparation. “> In terms of experience, we’re kind of even. He might even have more experience because the quality of fighters he’s had could be more than mine. But I’ve had a longer career, 250 amateur fights, and I have something to show him.”
As the boxing world eagerly anticipates this weekend’s action, the stage is set for an intriguing clash between the rising Benavidez and the veteran Gvozdyk, with both men determined to showcase their skills and secure a path to further success in the sport.
