Heavyweight Knockout Specialist Gurgen “Big Gug” Hovhannisyan Faces Robert Hall Jr. in Main Event of MVP’s Most Valuable Prospects 7
On Friday, July 26, undefeated heavyweight knockout specialist Gurgen “Big Gug” Hovhannisyan (8-0, 8 KOs) will face off against Robert Hall Jr. (14-3, 11 KOs) in the main event of MVP’s Most Valuable Prospects 7 at the Caribe Royal Resort in Orlando, Florida. The event, which will be streamed worldwide on DAZN, will also feature a co-main event bout between Amanda Serrano’s first signed fighter, Krystal Rosado (3-0, 1 KO), and Veronika Dmitriyeva.
Hovhannisyan Looks to Extend Knockout Streak
Hovhannisyan, the 26-year-old 6’7″ heavyweight from Yerevan, Armenia, who now trains in Los Angeles under Hall-of-Famer Joe Goossen, is coming off a dominant May victory over Luis Pascual, in which Pascual retired on his stool after the second round. After a close loss to 2020 Olympic gold medalist Bakhodir Jalolov in his amateur career, Hovhannisyan turned professional in 2021 and has since showcased his devastating power, stopping all eight of his opponents.
Hall Jr. Aims to Bounce Back from Setbacks
Facing the heavy-handed Hovhannisyan will be Johnson City, Tennessee’s Hall Jr., who is looking to reestablish a winning streak after suffering back-to-back point defeats to veteran Jerry Forrest and undefeated Roney Hines. Hall Jr. had a promising 12-1 start to his career before a three-year hiatus, but returned in 2021 with a third-round stoppage of Portland Pringle.
Rosado and Dmitriyeva in Co-Main Event
In the co-main event, the 21-year-old Puerto Rican prospect Krystal Rosado will take on Veronika Dmitriyeva. Rosado, who is signed to Serrano’s promotional team MVP, made her professional debut in August 2023, scoring a second-round knockout victory. She followed that up with a unanimous decision win over Alyssia Lopez in front of her home fans in San Juan, Puerto Rico in March 2024.
Undercard Action
The undercard will feature a six-round heavyweight clash between David Garcia (6-0, 3 KOs), a former Junior Olympic national champion from nearby Crescent City, Florida, and Dominicc Hardy, a 2017 Chicago Golden Gloves champion.
