Former Middleweight Champion Danny Jacobs Upbeat Ahead of Mosley Jr. Showdown
Former middleweight champion Danny Jacobs is feeling rejuvenated as he prepares to make his long-awaited return to the ring against Shane Mosley Jr. on July 6 in Anaheim, California. The 37-year-old, who last fought in a split decision loss to John Ryder in 2022, is eager to embark on another run towards a world title.
“I can’t wait to get back in the ring and do what I love most,” Jacobs told DAZN. “I’ve been training, and I feel rejuvenated and ready to make another run to the top. This is a great opportunity on a big platform as the co-main event to Diaz vs. Masvidal, and I’m coming to make the most of it. I’ve got a great opponent, but don’t blink, because I’m preparing to end this fight in style.”
Jacobs, a former WBO and IBF titleholder, will face the son of boxing legend Shane Mosley, who previously faced the likes of Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr. before retiring in 2016. While the younger Mosley is yet to fully live up to his father’s reputation, he does hold a victory over Gabe Rosado, and he is relishing the chance to test himself against a seasoned veteran like Jacobs.
“I am blessed and grateful for this opportunity,” Mosley said. “It means a lot to be fighting on such a big event, and it’s even more motivating to be going up against a legend in the sport. I’m thankful to Golden Boy and my whole team for making this possible.”
Jacobs has presented himself as the toughest opponent Mosley Jr. has faced, and the former champion is determined to make the most of this high-profile platform as he aims to reclaim his place among the elite of the middleweight division.
