Experienced Boxing Promoter Signs Rising Contender to Multi-Year Deal
Paco Damian, the CEO of Paco Presents Boxing, has recently signed junior bantamweight contender Jonathan Rodriguez to a multi-year promotional contract. This strategic move aims to propel Rodriguez towards a high-profile fight opportunity in the near future.
Rodriguez, currently ranked No. 6 by the IBF, No. 12 by the WBO, and No. 13 by the WBC, is seen as a rising talent in the stacked junior bantamweight division. In his last outing, the 28-year-old fought former world title challenger Israel Gonzalez to a draw, snapping a three-fight win streak that followed his loss in a world title fight against then-IBF junior bantamweight champion Jerwin Ancajas.
“It is a very big signing for me. We have big plans for him,” said Damian, an experienced promoter.
With the junior bantamweight division heating up, featuring the likes of former WBC flyweight titleholder Julio Cesar Martinez, WBC titleholder Juan Francisco Estrada, and WBA titleholder Kazuto Ioka, the stage is set for Rodriguez to potentially secure a high-profile bout against a top name or titleholder.
Guided by Don Chargin’s protégé, Damian, Rodriguez now has the opportunity to capitalize on his strong performance against Ancajas and potentially earn another significant opportunity in the near future. Boxing enthusiasts can expect to see the rising contender in action soon, as his new promoter works to secure him a marquee matchup.
