Dillian Whyte’s Trainer Believes He Can Still Capture a World Heavyweight Title
Veteran Trainer Expresses Confidence in Whyte’s Abilities
Dillian Whyte’s veteran trainer, Buddy McGirt, has expressed his unwavering belief that his fighter can still achieve his dream of becoming a world heavyweight champion.
Whyte, who previously fell short in his bid for global honors against Tyson Fury two years ago, had been out of the ring for 16 months before making his return against Christian Hammer last month. This comeback fight came after Whyte had faced an adverse finding in a pre-fight test for performance-enhancing drugs ahead of a rematch with domestic rival Anthony Joshua.
Despite Whyte’s long layoff and his somewhat underwhelming performance against Hammer, McGirt remains confident in his fighter’s abilities. “> I honestly think he can become a champion,” said McGirt. “I mean, if I didn’t have faith in him, I would not be wasting neither one of our times.”
McGirt attributed Whyte’s sluggish display against Hammer to the opponent’s tactics, stating that Hammer “just came out like a wild man and went for broke.” The trainer believes that Whyte’s true potential is yet to be fully realized, and he is determined to guide the 36-year-old back to the top of the heavyweight division.
The prospect of a rematch between Whyte and former opponent Joseph Parker has also been discussed, with the WBO interim champion eager to avenge his previous loss. While McGirt respects Parker’s abilities, he remains confident that Whyte would emerge victorious in a second encounter.
As Whyte continues his pursuit of a world title, McGirt’s unwavering support and belief in his fighter’s capabilities will undoubtedly be a crucial factor in determining the outcome of his future battles.
