Lyndon Arthur Seeks Redemption in Domestic Showdown
Lyndon Arthur, the former Commonwealth light heavyweight champion, is set to return to the ring on June 21st in Bolton, where he will face off against Liam Cameron in a highly anticipated domestic clash. The fight will be aired live on Channel 5 in the UK.
The 32-year-old from Manchester, who holds a professional record of 23-2 with 16 knockouts, is looking to bounce back from his unanimous decision loss to WBA champion Dmitry Bivol in Saudi Arabia last December. With his former opponent Anthony Yarde and Joshua Buatsi struggling to finalize their own showdown, Arthur will be eager to make a statement and remind everyone of his capabilities in the active 175lb domestic scene.
“Cameron is hungry for this, and coming to ruin my plans, but I simply won’t allow him to restart his career with a win over me,” Arthur said. “It’s just not happening.”
For Cameron, a former Commonwealth middleweight champion, this represents a significant step up in competition. The 33-year-old from Sheffield has a record of 23-5 with 10 knockouts, and he’ll be looking to cause a major upset after returning to the ring last October following a five-year absence and a four-year ban for a positive cocaine test.
“Everybody knows what I have been through, but the struggle will be all worth it, when I cause a huge upset on June 21,” Cameron said. “A win over Lyndon Arthur will take my career to a whole new level and opportunities as good as this one don’t come around very often, so I am going to make the most of it. This will be a life-changing night for me.”
The Wasserman-promoted event will provide an intriguing domestic showdown between two experienced light heavyweights, both seeking to regain their momentum in the division.
