Danish Boxing News: Local Star Ljungquist Dominates in Nykobing Falster
Nykobing Falster, Denmark: RngSde Promotions returned to Nykobing Falster for a show titled “The Return,” with local heavyweight hero Kem Ljungquist (18-0) headlining the event against Tanzanian-Swede Awadh Tamim (16-10).
Ljungquist, a southpaw, had to work hard but eventually floored Tamim twice in the seventh round, leading to the fight being stopped at 2:53. Tamim displayed a powerful right hand, but Ljungquist’s sharp skills were too much for the veteran. The Dane won every round in a workmanlike performance and is now poised for bigger challenges, with his name being mentioned as a potential opponent for several top heavyweight contenders.
Co-Main Event
In the co-main event, heavyweight prospect Gustav Thorsen (3-0) impressed with a second-round knockout victory over Hungarian veteran Andres Csomor (18-39-2). Csomor, a late replacement, made sure to stay down until the “10 and out” count was reached, despite not putting up much of a fight.
Undercard Highlights
“Elsewhere on the card, reigning Danish featherweight champion Ahmad Chauki El Ahmad (5-0) outpointed Ukrainian Rafail Melnyk (3-7) in a fast-paced four-rounder, winning 40-36 on all scorecards.”
Danish lightweight prospect Elias Idrissi (4-0) stopped Georgian Irakli Shariashvili (9-15-1) in the fourth round, with Shariashvili receiving three points deductions for holding.
In the opening bout, Swedish welterweight Mohammed Al-Maliki (1-1) outscored Moldovan super welterweight Ion Catarau (1-3) over four rounds, winning 40-36 on all cards. Catarau came in over the agreed weight and refused to take it off.
