Tyson Fury Retains WBC Heavyweight Title with Dominant Win Over Derek Chisora
In a one-sided affair, Tyson Fury effortlessly retained his WBC heavyweight championship by stopping Derek Chisora in the 10th round of their highly anticipated all-British clash at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Fury’s overwhelming reach and height advantage proved to be the decisive factor, as referee Victor Loughlin finally waved off the contest with just 10 seconds remaining in the 10th round. Chisora himself acknowledged that the decision was the right call.
“I felt good, I needed some rounds, I haven’t boxed since April,” Fury stated after the victory. “I was landing good punches. What a tough man (Chisora is). I hit him with shots that would have sparked anyone else out.”
Chisora, facing Fury for the third time, was unable to overcome the champion’s jab and reach, which allowed Fury to control the fight from start to finish. Despite a couple of flush rights that landed in the early going, Fury shrugged off the challenger’s attacks and took control with his dominant jab.
With the win, Fury extended his undefeated record to 33-0-1, securing his 24th knockout triumph. This was Fury’s third successful defense of the WBC title he won from Deontay Wilder in 2020. Watching from ringside was the unbeaten Oleksandr Usyk, the holder of the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles, setting the stage for a potential undisputed title showdown between the two champions.
