Ammo Williams Gears Up for Highly-Anticipated Middleweight Eliminator Clash with Hamzah Sheeraz in Saudi Arabia
Undefeated middleweight prospect Austin “Ammo” Williams (16-0, 11 KOs) is hard at work in training camp, preparing for his upcoming showdown against fellow unbeaten Hamzah Sheeraz (19-0, 15 KOs) in a WBC middleweight final eliminator on June 1st in Saudi Arabia. The highly-anticipated bout is part of the groundbreaking “5vs5” event, where five Frank Warren-promoted fighters will square off against five Eddie Hearn-promoted stars.
Williams, who is currently training at Kevin Cunningham’s “Camp Cunningham” base in South Florida, is eager to secure his shot at the WBC middleweight title. Renowned trainer Cunningham expects a tightly contested affair between the two rising talents.
“Ammo has been working hard in camp,” Cunningham told BoxingScene.com. “I think this is a very close and competitive matchup. The winner deserves the WBC middleweight title shot next.”
The 25-year-old Williams last competed in February, when he stopped Armel Mbumba-Yassa in seven rounds in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, Sheeraz was also last in action in February, scoring a first-round knockout victory over Liam Williams at London’s Copper Box Arena.
The winner of the Williams-Sheeraz clash will move one step closer to a coveted world title opportunity in the stacked middleweight division.
