Seasoned Boxing Superstar Lomachenko Clinches Another World Title in Dominant Performance
In a display of exceptional skill and dominance, Vasiliy Lomachenko, one of the greatest boxers of our time, claimed the vacant IBF lightweight title with an emphatic 11th-round stoppage victory over Australia’s George Kambosos Jr. at the RAC Arena in Perth on Sunday.
The 36-year-old Ukrainian boxing legend put on a masterclass, leading the scorecards 99-91 (twice) and 98-92 at the time of the finish. Promoter Bob Arum hailed Lomachenko as “one of the great fighters of our time, the greatest amateur of all time, and a true blessing to the professional boxing ranks,” praising his “brilliant performance” and predicting he will be “more dominant in future fights.”
“I’m happy because I’m a world champion again. It was my goal, it was my motivation, and now I’m champion again. I’m very happy.”

The former Olympic gold medalist acknowledged that he expected a tougher challenge from Kambosos (21-3, 10 KOs), but noted that his team’s meticulous preparation allowed him to adapt and eventually finish the fight strongly.
When asked about his plans for the remainder of the year, Lomachenko left the door open for a potential return to the ring, saying “maybe.” He also expressed his support for his compatriot Oleksandr Usyk, who will battle Tyson Fury in a highly anticipated heavyweight unification clash in Saudi Arabia on May 18th.
“I’m with my friend, I’m with my brother Oleksandr Usyk, and of course I wish him to win this fight.”
