Jimenez Earns Unanimous Decision Victory over Ramirez on Haney-Garcia Undercard
Brooklyn, New York – In an exciting bout on the undercard of the highly anticipated Devin Haney-Ryan Garcia matchup, David Jimenez (14-0, 9 KOs) secured a unanimous decision triumph over John Ramirez (15-2, 11 KOs) in their super flyweight contest at Barclays Center on Saturday.
Jimenez consistently outworked his opponent throughout the fight, imposing himself on the inside and relentlessly targeting Ramirez’s body. The judges scored the bout 117-111, 117-111, and 116-112 in favor of the undefeated Jimenez, who demonstrated his versatility by mixing up his attack and negating Ramirez’s attempts to establish his jab at range.
“Jimenez’s relentless attack and body work were the keys to his victory tonight,” said boxing analyst Mike Coppinger. “He showed his adaptability by switching up his game plan to counter Ramirez’s attempts to box at range.”
The eighth round proved particularly challenging for Ramirez, as he was forced to absorb a barrage of punches and resort to holding in an effort to alleviate the pressure. Earlier on the card, Charles Conwell (19-0, 14 KOs) made quick work of Nathaniel Gallimore (22-8-1, 17 KOs), stopping him in the sixth round of their light middleweight contest.
Referee Arthur Mercante Jr. halted the Conwell-Gallimore matchup after 52 seconds of the sixth round, as Conwell continued to dominate the action with his relentless offensive onslaught. Elsewhere on the undercard, Sergiy Derevyanchenko (15-5, 10 KOs) earned a unanimous decision victory over Vaughn Alexander (18-11-1, 11 KOs) in a super middleweight bout, while Amari Jones (12-0, 11 KOs) secured a sixth-round stoppage win over Armel Mbumba-Yassa (10-2, 7 KOs) in a middleweight clash.
